VAGINITIS

VAGINITIS is defined as Vaginal infection ,inflammation , vaginal irritaion ,pain and fetid discharge , due to various pathogens and allergic reaction of vaginal contraceptives.

The normal pH level of vagina is less than or equivalent to 4.5

BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS

Bacterial vaginosis is a Polymicrobial infection. A increased growth of Gardnerella and other anaerobes pathogens are responsible for fetid discharge.Discharge colour is like grayish with pH is 5 to 5.5

TREATMENT

The recommended medicine is metronidazole ,clindamycin , tinidazole tablets as a oral therapy.

Metronidazole gel , clindamycin vaginal cream are also uses in bacterial vaginosis.

VULVOVAGINAL CANDIDIASIS

Candida infection occurs due to various reasons like Pregnancy , diabetes , use of antibiotics. environmental factors are also contribute to candida like heat and moisture.

TREATMENT

Various oral and topical drugs are used in vulvovaginal candidiasis.

The recommended medicine is FLUCONAZOLE as a single dose in uncomplicated condition.

In complicated condition two doses of Fluconazole in a gap of 3 days will be given.

VAGINAL SUPPOSITORY ARE ALSO AVAILABLE LIKE MICONAZOLE.

VAGINAL CREAM LIKE TIOCONAZOLE, BUTOCONAZOLE,CLOTRIMAZOLE,TERCONAZOLE.

TRICHOMONAS VAGINALIS VAGINITIS

Protozoal flgellate which is sexually transmitted is infects the vagina.Pruritus and fetid frothy,yellow green discharge along with vaginal erythema occurs in this condition.

TREATMENT

TREATMENT SHOULD BE TAKEN BY BOTH THE PARTNERS IS RECOMMENDED

MEDICINE IS METRONIDAZOLE AND TINIDAZOLE IS RECOMMENDED IN TRICHOMONAS VAGINALIS VAGINITIS.
